My husband and I have been married for 51 (almost 52) years, and what I have learned after being married for that long is to NEVER underestimate him!!
There are times when he has to travel overseas, and it just doesn’t work for me to go with him AND he (we) don’t plan those trips around special occasions, for the most part.

This last trip was over Valentine’s Day. Now, you have to understand, neither of us takes special notice of those Hallmark calendar dates. What I’m trying to say is, neither of us are real romantic. I mean, sometimes we make a big deal of Valentine’s Day, and sometimes we both forget about the holiday until some advertiser reminds us!
This year, we didn’t even realize we wouldn’t be together on February 14th. At least, I didn’t, until the day arrived and everyone was posting about their Valentine, and mine was halfway around the world!!

BUT he came through and made my day.

We were on the phone, he was calling me from Singapore, and I was sitting in my living room feeling alone (I mean, why wouldn’t I??) when my doorbell rang. I told him, “The doorbell just rang, let me hang up and see who it is, and I’ll call you back.” Well, he said, “No, just go answer it, and I’ll stay on the phone.”
So I went to the door, and there stood a lady with a huge bouquet of red roses!!!

I guess I wouldn’t have been so surprised if he were more predictable!! Needless to say, the timing was perfect, and I made my decision to become his Valentine again this year!!!
